"I discovered that there are two views of the inspiration of the Word of God. Both are correct, but one is more mature than the other. The first view is 'The Bible is true because the Bible is inspired.' The second view is: 'The Bible is inspired because the Bible is true.'" In this passage the author is arguing that the second statement is the more mature statement. After reading this, I felt a little convicted. So often, I find myself looking for all this evidence that the Bible is true. When I first started considering Christianity, even though my life was at a disaster and there were no other options, I still found myself doubting the truthfulness of the Bible. Because of this, I spent much time reading through books and other articles on the accuracy of the Bible. Though these things are not bad, and they ended up strengthening my belief, I think there is something to be said about accepting the Bible as truth because it is truth. Once one begins to read the Word, they realize its inherent truthfulness in application. Thus we should accept the Bible as truth because it is truth.
