Christ's Example of Kenosis (Outside Reading 1)

Paul in his letter to the church in Philippi discussed how Jesus emptied himself by taking the form of the servant (Philippians 2:7).  This is an example of kenosis being that Jesus of Nazareth was fully God but did not see his equality with God as something to be grasped (2:6).  Paul urges the people to "Have this mind among themselves" (2:5) showing how Jesus of Nazareth was the example of this humility.  The phrase "emptied himself" is very relevant to class material if one looks at the concept of kenosis which is known as the emptying of oneself.  Jesus of Nazareth is not only the perfect example of humility as Paul describes but is also the perfect example of kenosis putting his life into class terms.
