Class Discussion Thoughts: Mountains as Our Objective Friends

Mountains as Our Objective Friends

I desire a friend who doesn’t share my secrets. I desire a friend who gives and receives. I desire a friend who loves and accepts love. As I enter the trail with an open mind, it speaks, it teaches, it challenges, it gives, it receives and it listens. It’s everything I desire in a friend. The mountains became my friend. Hiking taught me lessons on peace, reflection and story making. Yet, it’s rigorous terrain taught me endurance and challenged my physical body and my mental state. It gave me shelter and provided me refuge at time. On this journey, I left my blood, sweat and tears along the way. This relationship is reciprocal. I loved the atmosphere that the mountains create. It became my best friend in only a few short hours. The mountains have experienced fire, deforestation, and animals attacking it. These things help form an objective viewpoint that the mountains hold.
