Outside Reading 3
The 4 Spiritual Secrets, Dick Woodward
"There's much about life that we don't learn until we need to know it" (Woodward 7). I believe this is an unfortunate truth about most people's lives. However, this truth would be avoidable if we only listened to sound advice and reason the first time. So often we are reactive instead of proactive. We don't apply the things we know we should to our lives until we find ourselves in a dire situation that requires us to do so. I once read that the problem for Christians in the western culture is not what they do not know or have not read, but that they cannot apply the knowledge they already have learned to their lives. Because of this, we lack wisdom, which is knowledge applied. I believe that we would avoid so much pain if we were to simply apply the appropriate knowledge to our lives in a timely fashion. In a world where the vast majority of people do not have access to the type of resourses we do in American, we should take advantage of the things we already know and become wise.
