Stewardship of the Land (Outside Reading 2)

When God created man in the account of Genesis he created Adam and placed him in the garden of Eden for him to work it and keep it (Genesis 2:15).  God commands Israel in the book of Numbers to not pollute the earth with blood shed, which is not a direct phrasing against pollution but is still a reference to stewardship (Numbers 35:33).  If one looks at these commands of the Old Testament, they would include that the average person with any sort of Judeo-Christian influence would seek to be a good steward and protect the health of the earth.  The unfortunate fact is that people of the Judeo-Christian have historically not been that great of stewards of the earth due to partisan politics.  I think a common theme of this course has been how people can experience God through pilgrimage in nature with a certain emphasis on the Judeo-Christian perspective, for anyone who identifies with that perspective of experiencing the God of Christianity through nature they should seriously consider what is said in the word about stewardship.
