Sacred Journey in Fantasy: Topic of Choosing

Image result for the chronicles of narnia illustrations When I was eight my siblings and I would listen to my father read us the Chronicles of Narnia.  What I love most about Lewis’s children’s literature is how captivating the storyline is even before its allegorical meaning is recognized. The divinity of Jesus through the archetype of Aslan, paired with the fall and redemption of characters like Edmund helped reconcile the role that I have in my personal faith journey and coming to terms with personal spiritual growth.  Stories like Narnia and LoTR contribute a breadth of abstract thought and theology into what it means to embark on sacred journey and how it calls the pilgrim to leave behind the hindrances of their materialistic, egocentric past life.
