Chosen Topic- Cross Country
I participated in cross country for
3 years throughout high school. It was the best and worst sport ever. I loved
the feeling after running, also called a “runner’s high” and my best friends
were on the team with me. However, it was hard. Practice consisted of either
hills, mile repeats, progressive runs, or sprints. Running not only kept me in
shape physically, but also mentally. During meets, I wasn’t running in a group
like at practices, so I had to motivate myself. I would pick someone else
running and try to keep up with them, once I settled at their pace I told
myself to keep moving forward and pick another person to catch up with. Positive
thinking is a huge requirement for running, because negative thoughts can slow
you down, but keeping a good attitude and constantly telling yourself you can
do it is even more important. I adopted this positive thinking lifestyle for
other things too, such as when taking tests and presenting projects. I strive
to always be positive, because I’ve realized how it can impact others around me
and how essential it’s been for transiting into college away from home.
