Image and Pilgrimage in Christian Culture 2

“Thus, out of the mixing and mingling of ideas from many traditions, a respect may grow for the pilgrimages of others.”
Image and Pilgrimage in Christian Culture page 39

Throughout the experience of pilgrimage, people tend to mix and mingle with different pilgrims who are essentially doing the same thing, but maybe not for the same reason. Someone could set out to go on the same journey as you, but for entirely different reasons, which is what makes the journey special, it is personalized for the person making it. A general respect is shared by all pilgrims, no matter the actual reason/religion for the pilgrimage, because pilgrims generally understand the importance of the journey.
