Natural Setting

As I was on the interstate riding home for fall break a deer ran straight into the traffic. A car hit it and pieces of the car and the deer went flying. I couldn’t help but think how dumb the deer must be for running into the road like it owned the place. However, examining closely at the situation, deer did used to own the place. Humans came onto their territory, took down trees, built houses, roads, all while destroying the animals’ homes. Being surrounded by nature helps one’s focus, attitude, and overall well-being, but it’s hard to enjoy the environment when it is constantly being destroyed. Setting aside natural parks and restricting pollutants doesn’t help much when roads are lined with litter and construction continues tearing down trees. There may not be one solution to this problem, but the simple task of recycling, taking the bus/bike instead of driving, and planting trees can improve the planet and human lives so much.
