Phenomenology of Prayer 1
“we learn how prayer is the task of a lifetime”
Phenomenology of Prayer page 19
Prayer is generally thought of as being done in intervals,
or sessions. People don’t think about prayer in a way that it is ongoing. They
tend to see prayer as something that you can turn on and off, but if prayer is
the true communication with God, then shouldn’t it be ‘on’ at all times? Prayer
is the task of a lifetime because it cannot be mastered easily. Prayer is
something that one has to work on throughout their whole life. There is no
proper way to pray, there is no rulebook, and there are no guidelines. There is
not certain criteria that one has to meet to pray properly, the only way to get
‘better’ is to practice, or to continue to work on it by praying more often.
