Landscapes of the Sacred: The ordinary revealed as Holy

"We wistfully seek an arcane cosmos through every leaf and branch, longing for the ordinary to be revealed as holy."

This sentence caught my eye while reading Landscapes as I think it personally encapsulated the destination which most of us seek--if not just me--when embarking on sacred journey.  How desperately I've pondered the notion of the holy, striven for God to reveal himself to me in the midst of the mundane and trivialities which surround.  How difficult it is to seek consolation in the world around us--things which are so common they almost become an extension of ourselves.
